Learn, Grow, and Thrive

The Y is the largest and oldest provider of youth development services, with a long history of providing a real, positive impact in the lives of children. We are dedicated to strengthening families as a community resource that nurtures the potential in children. At the Plano Y, our Preschool Program is designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—while preparing them for a successful start in kindergarten. We focus on building strong character values, boosting self-esteem, and fostering a love for learning in a safe, supportive environment. We accept children ages 2-5 and families are encouraged to take a tour prior to registering.

All YMCA Preschool activities help children learn helpfulness and kindness as an introduction to the four core values of the YMCA: caring, responsibility, respect, and honesty. Using developmentally appropriate materials, curriculum and activities in a play-based environment, your child will be supported in learning social skills, Kindergarten readiness skills, and engage in physical activities such as:

  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Physical activity and movement
  • Arts and crafts
  • Science exploration
  • Math, counting, and early literacy

We believe that early childhood is a critical time for growth, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our mission is to inspire children to be creative, independent, and responsible learners who feel confident in making positive choices every day. Give your child a truly nurturing and positive experience. Enroll in the Plano Y Preschool today.

Our Preschool is licensed by the state of Texas. Our excellent staff are background cleared, trained in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention, Mental Wellness, Core YMCA curriculum and more to ensure the safety and positive experience of your child when in our care.

Summer Camp is available on a week-to-week basis for families to choose one week, or all weeks!

The Plano Family YMCA Preschool is a year-round program. We follow the academic curriculum from September through May, which turns into a summer camp from June through July.

We accept children ages 2-5 and have three classrooms available: toddler (2-3 years old), Preschool (3-4 years old), and pre-kindergarten (4-5 years old). Those in the Preschool and pre-kindergarten classes should be potty trained before enrolling.

We aim to help students become well-rounded individuals by focusing on social-emotional learning and academics. We teach children to use words, express their feelings, and interact with others. In addition, we provide progress reports every six weeks during the school year so parents can track student advancements.

Each class is designed to create a sound foundation for the upcoming year. The Toddler class will most emphasize social-emotional learning and be more play-based. The Preschool class will be introduced to phonetic awareness, numbers, shapes, and more. Enrolling in both years sets students to excel in the Prekindergarten class, where children will leave confident and ready for Kindergarten.

Every day will have circle time, center time, lesson, recess, snack and lunch, and a special. Specials include sign language, music, P.E., and more. Snacks and lunches are included at no additional cost.\
